Iran Press/ Iran News: On January 18, 2023, the representatives of the European Parliament voted in favor of the proposed amendment to recognize the IRGC in the list of so-called "Terrorist organizations" of the European Union.
Decisions of the European Parliament are considered proposals and are in the form of requests.
The Army of the Islamic Republic of Iran issued a statement and condemned the action of the European Parliament in putting the name of the IRGC on the list of so-called "Terrorist organizations" and announced: "The army is more cohesive than in the past, hand in hand with the Islamic Revolution Guard Corps for the security and peace of the Iranian people. It protects the system of the Islamic Republic and the stability of the region."
The statement of the Army of the Islamic Republic of Iran reads: "Today, once again the stubbornness and malice of the enemies against the Islamic system was revealed."
It is stated in the statement that the action of the European Parliament, which claims to fight terrorism, against the anti-terrorism institution, is out of desperation and failure to support the recent unrest in Iran.
The statement adds: "The fight against domestic and foreign terrorist groups, from the MEK's to the ISIS group, shines in the history of the Islamic Revolution Guard Corps, which has offered high-ranking martyrs, such as the martyred Lt. Gen. Qassem Soleimani and other precious martyrs of the resistance."
In part of the statement, it is stated: "In recent years, the Muslim and oppressed nations of the region and the freedom seeking people of the world have witnessed the serious and decisive actions of the Islamic Republic of Iran in dealing with barbaric terrorism, and they are aware of Iran's role in suppressing terrorism in the region."
The statement adds: "The proposal to include the name of the Islamic Revolution Guard Corps in the fake and hypocritical list of terrorist groups is a result of surrender and blind obedience to America's hostile policies against the Islamic Revolution and shows the dependence and surrender of European leaders to America and global Zionism."
