Ankara (IP) - Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu announced that his country is trying to increase the volume of foreign trade with Iran to 30 billion dollars.

Iran PressAsia: Speaking at a news conference with his Iranian counterpart Hossein Amir-Abdollahian in Ankara on Tuesday, Cavusoglu added: "During the meeting with my Iranian counterpart, we discussed cooperation with Tehran in all fields."

He also said that he had discussed with his Iranian counterpart to make preparations for the visit of Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi to Turkey, which was supposed to take place late last year.

He also said that in this meeting we agreed to hold the joint economic meeting of the two countries as soon as possible.

Cavusoglu added that the two sides are supposed to implement and expand the preferential trade agreement between the two countries.

He also talked about the agreement between the two countries to deal with terrorism and PKK and added: "To deal with PKK, we are taking the necessary steps, but this group also exists in Iran, and our security and intelligence forces exchange views with their Iranian counterparts."

He also referred to the investment of Turkish companies in Iran, saying: "Nearly 20 Turkish private companies have invested in Iran and are active."

Regarding the export of gas from Iran, he also said that President Erdoğan wants not to stop the export of Iranian gas to Turkey, and if there is a technical problem, Turkey is ready to help.

"We exchanged views on tourism, sanctions on Iran, Iraq, and Syria, the war in Ukraine, and Afghanistan's girls' education," the Turkish top diplomat noted.

Turkish Foreign Minister also referred to the talks on the revival of the Iran nuclear agreement known as the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) and said: "We hope this agreement will be signed soon. We used to import oil from Iran and our companies cannot buy oil from Iran because of these sanctions."
