Tehran (IP) - Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian said that the European Union had become a victim of violent and even terrorist groups that give false information to these politicians.

Iran PressIran News: Amir-Abdollahian made the remarks in a phone call with the High Representative of the European Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, Josep Borrell.

Iranian FM appreciated Borrell's role in political interactions and criticized the non-diplomatic literature used by some European ministers.

"Today in Europe, some radical politicians hide behind the European Union and spend from pocket money," he added.

Accordingly, the European Union's strategic goals have become a victim of violent and even terrorist groups that give false information to these politicians, Amir-Abdollahian said.

Iranian FM described Borrell's role as necessary in keeping the European Union away from non-constructive emotions.

Meanwhile, Borrell referred to his efforts to return all parties to the Vienna commitments.

He stressed that he would continue efforts and communication to reach an agreement.

The two sides discussed the latest status of the negotiations for lifting sanctions and cooperation between the Islamic Republic of Iran and the International Atomic Energy Agency.

Iranian Foreign Minister on Friday, in a phone conversation with UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres, discussed the war in Ukraine and said: "We believe that this war originated from the wrong policies of NATO's expansion to the east, and we consider the accusation of sending weapons from Iran to Russia for war in Ukraine as baseless."
