The Syrian government has condemned the recent resolution adopted against Iran by the UN Human Rights Council (UNHRC).

Iran PressIran News: Syrian Foreign Minister Faisal Mekdad, during a phone conversation with his Iranian counterpart on Monday, also condemned Western countries for exploiting international mechanisms for their own political purposes.

In addition to the HRC resolution, Mekdad and Iran FM Hossein Amirabdollahian discussed Tehran-Damascus relations and the latest regional and international developments.

The 5th extraordinary session of the United Nations Human Rights Council (HRC) on the recent riots in the Islamic Republic adopted a resolution against Iran on Thursday, proposed by Germany and Iceland.

Unrest and brawls were instigated under the pretext of Mahsa Amini, 22, who died due to a sudden heart attack in a police center in Tehran on Tuesday, September 13, after being taken there for violation of dress codes along with some other women.

Iran dismissed the resolution as a “political scam”, expressing regret that a group of bullying governments is misusing the Human Rights Council.
