Doha (IP) - The coach of the Iranian national soccer team, Carlos Queiroz, said that good unity was in today's Iranian national soccer team, and today "we returned to our roots"; beating Wales was an opportunity to get back to FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 campaign.

Iran PressIran news: Carlos Queiroz, in his press conference after beating Wales in the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022, said that "we had a perfect match today, and everyone showed a very high character, a good unity was in Iran's national team and today "we returned to our roots."

He continued, "we had to overcome the bad feelings of the previous defeat.

The coach of the Iranian national soccer team said: "Our pride was damaged in the first game, but today we turned to our roots and we could show ourselves, and this was not an easy task."

Queiroz added that Wales was very tough, and they played swift football, and "we had to stay focused."

He emphasized: "We could have scored more goals, but the important thing was to win. In this group, there is an opportunity to win until the last day, and our goal is a success."

On Friday, the national Iranian men's football team managed to defeat Wales 2-0 in their second match in Group B of the World Cup in Qatar.

The two goals of Iran were scored by Rouzbeh Cheshmi at minute 98 and Ramin Rezaeian at 101.

Wales lost their goalkeeper after he received a red card for a fault against attacking Mehdi Taremi.

Iran will next take on the US on Tuesday, when a win would almost certainly see them advance to the knockout rounds for the first time in its history.

Iran lost to England 6-2 in its opener, but the National Team dominated the match against Wales and won the game to keep its hope alive.
