Iran Press/ Middle East: The World Cup continues in Qatar on Friday, when teams began playing their second games of the group stage.
In a Group B game the United States was watching closely, Iran throttled shorthanded Wales late in the second half and came away with a 2-0 win.
Iran scores a desperation goal in the 97th minute as Rouzbeh Cheshmi sends a laser into the net. And minutes later, another plan for Iran, which takes a 2-0 win over Wales.
Wales have to throw everything at it, exposing them to the back. Iran wins the ball and breaks clear, and Rezaeian is left with a simple finish past Danny Ward.
Iran was dominant in that second half, and when Hennessey was sent off, you always felt there would be at least one more big chance for them.
Iran was superb throughout, but Wales will look back at this one with regret.
They never got a foothold in the match and were guilty of giving the ball away in dangerous areas. Ultimately, they were punished, and their World Cup dreams were left tatters.
The match kicked off at the Ahmed bin Ali Stadium. The first half of the game then ended, and neither of the two teams succeeded in scoring any goal.
Iran faced a challenging second game against Wales, who had managed to hold off the USA to a draw on the sixth day of the Qatar World Cup.
