Tehran (IP) - Upon an invitation by Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian, heads and deputy heads of the Iranian Parliament (Majlis)’s friendship groups with other countries joined a seminar with the top Iranian diplomat at the headquarters of the Ministry for Foreign Affairs on Tuesday night.

Iran PressIran news: During the meeting, the heads and deputy heads of parliamentary friendship groups stressed the need to promote parliamentary diplomacy and benefit from its high capacities in advancing the country’s foreign policy. They offered their views and presented proposed solutions in that regard.

They also reviewed significant foreign policy-related topics and emphasized interactions and synergy between Majlis and the country’s diplomatic apparatus.

For his part, Amir-Abdollahian described as constructive and notable the proposals and solutions put forward by the lawmakers who are members of parliamentary friendship groups. He also emphasized the necessity to promote constant and effective interactions between the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and lawmakers and members of parliamentary friendship groups with the goal of enhancing diplomatic activism on the part of Majlis.

He also offered an analysis of international political developments. The minister pointed to the increasing pressure and sanctions as well as a new wave of complicated conspiracies hatched by America and some other Western countries against the Islamic Republic, briefing the lawmakers on the measures taken by the diplomatic apparatus to foil them.

He also called for the Foreign Ministry to further benefit from the capacity of parliamentary diplomacy in this regard.
