Tehran(IP) - Britain refused to issue visas to Iranian Taekwondo athletes to participate in the Manchester 2022 world Taekwondo Grand-Prix.

Iran PressIran News: According to Iran Taekwondo Federation, the third stage of the 2022 world Taekwondo Grand-Prix competitions started on Friday, October 21, with the presence of 256 Taekwondo athletes from 61 countries hosted by England in Manchester.

However, the Iranian national team lost their participation in the tournament the British Embassy in Ankara refused to issue visas for Iranian athletes.

The invitation letter to the 2022 World Grand-Prix competition has been sent by the Taekwondo World Federation to the athletes who are eligible to participate. Head of the Taekwondo Federation, Hadi Saei in a meeting with the head of the World Federation, Dr. Cho, in Paris in September requested the international body to issue an invitation to Iranian Taekwondo athletes earlier. Two letters were sent to WT in this regard from Tehran after the meeting.

The team attended the British embassy in Ankara and went through the process of obtaining visas while presenting the necessary documents.

However; unfortunately, these follow-ups did not lead to favorable result and Taekwondo athletes were not granted visa to participate in these competitions and lost their way to the Olympic quota, despite the fact that they were highly prepared.
