A bus explosion in the Damascus province killed at least 18 Syrian soldiers on Thursday, a security source told Sputnik.

Iran PressMiddle East: According to Sputnik, an explosive device was planted on the vehicle, and the military considers the incident to be a terror attack.

Meanwhile, Syrian media reported that 27 more people were wounded in the attack.There was no immediate claim of responsibility for Thursday's attack and no comment from Syrian authorities.

Eyewitnesses told Sputnik that the bomb targeted a bus transporting soldiers on the Damascus-Al-Sabourah public road, killing a number of passengers and injuring a number of others.

The Syrian government has repeatedly emphasized that the presence of militias and Americans in Syria have no other purpose than to loot the country's oil and their presence is illegal.

During the last two years, terrorist acts and car bomb explosions have been carried out in some northern areas of Syria, and some terrorists are trying to settle in these areas with their families by displacing its native residents.
