Kabul(IP)-The head of the Afghanistan Shia Ulema Council said that the progress and development of the Islamic world lies in the unity of the Muslims of the world.

Iran PressAsia: Ayatollah Salehi Modares, the head of the National Council of Shia Ulemas of Afghanistan, stated in an exclusive interview with the Iran press correspondent in Kabul about the important dimensions of unity in the Islamic world, that the rule of the Islamic world depends on the unity and convergence of the Islamic world.

This religious scholar added that the Muslims of the world, both Shia and Sunni, should stand against the common enemy by using the opportunity of the week of unity.

The head of Afghanistan's Shia Ulema Council noted that Islamic lands have abundant resources that Muslims can make optimal use with religious unity and brotherhood.

Ayatollah Salehi Modares stated that Imam Khomeini (RA) named the auspicious birthday anniversary of the Holy Prophet of Islam (PBUH) as Unity Week and said that the reason for this naming shows the importance of unity in the Muslim world and it can be the center of unity.

The  religious scholar of Afghanistan noted that after the issue of monotheism, no issue in Islam has been emphasized as much as the unity of Muslims in Islamic beliefs and rulings.

According to Sunni tradition, the 12th of Rabi al-Awwal is the birthday of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH), the beloved prophet of Islam.

On the initiative of Late Imam Khomeini (RA), the founder of the Islamic Republic of Iran, 12th of Rabi-ul-Awl (Sunni tradition) to 17th of Rabi-ul-Awl (Shi'a tradition) has been named Unity Week.
