Tehran (IP) - The second National Congress of Sports Martyrs of Iran was held in the presence of the Chief Commander of the Islamic Revolution Guard Corps (IRGC) and a group of officials and families of the martyrs.

Iran PressIran news: The second National Congress of Sports Martyrs of the country was held on Monday in the presence of Major General Hossein Salami, Chief Commander of the IRGC, General Gholamreza Soleimani, Head of Basij Organization, and Hamid Sajjadi, Minister of Sports and Youth.

In this ceremony, a number of families of sports martyrs and Basiji athletes were also present. In this ceremony, the deputy of the development of championship and professional sports of the Ministry of Sports and Youth, Mohammad Pooladgar, said: "We must introduce the names and memories of sports martyrs as role models."

He added: "There are heroes who, despite having abilities in their own sports fields and being able to gain honor by participating in international arenas competitions for years, sacrificed their lives to defend the cause of the Islamic Revolution."
