Nigeria (IP) - Millions of Muslims in Nigeria on Saturday and Sunday joined their counterparts in the rest of the Islamic countries to celebrate this year's birth anniversary of the holy Prophet of Islam, Prophet Muhammad (PBUH).

Iran PressAfrica: To mark the occasion, both Nigerian Sunni and Shi'a Muslims join on 12th of Rabi ul Awwal of the Islamic lunar calendar in most parts of the country to hold the annual processions. They showed their joy for the occasion, singing songs that praised Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) and distributing sweets and chocolates to people.

In Bauchi State, some celebrants wore t-shirts with photos of former Quds Force Commander of Iran's Islamic Revolution Guard Corps (IRGC), Lieutenant-General Qasem Soleimani.

Despite the spread of insecurity in the country due to bandits and takfiri terrorists' inhumane activities, the occasion has been celebrated peacefully.
