Tehran (IP) - People in Tehran have gathered in a ceremony to announce their allegiance to Imam Mahdi, Allah may hasten his reappearance.

Iran PressIran news: Today, Thursday, October 6, 2022, coincided with Rabiʻ I 9, 1444 AH is a day after the martyrdom anniversary of the eleventh Imam of the Shiites, Imam Hassan Askari (AS), when his son Imam Mahadi (AS) took the leadership of the Shiites.

Shia Muslims are celebrating the anniversary of the beginning of Imamat (leadership) of Imam Mahdi, the 12th infallible Imam of Shia Islam that is known as the savior of humanity and the Messiah.

A large number of people in Tehran have gathered in Imam Hossein Sq. attending Eid-e-Bei'at (Eid of Allegiance) to announce their loyalty to the Promised Savior. 

Imam Mahdi (AS) was born in 255 AH and became the Imam of the Shia in 260, right after the martyrdom of his father. 

He has been alive since his birthday, and the people of different faiths, not only the Shia, believe in him but under different names and are anticipating his arrival.

His father, Imam Hassan Askari, was martyred on 8th Rabi ul Awwal, and soon after his martyrdom, formally, the Imamat of Imam Mahdi began.

The belief in Mahdi was widespread during the time of the Prophet. The Prophet (peace be upon him and his progeny), on more than one occasion, announced the coming of Imam Mahdi in the future. From time to time, he would inform the people about the government of Mahdi and the signs of his emergence, giving his name and patronymic (kunya).

Shia believes that Imam Mahdi is the promised savior and will appear to the people alongside Prophet Jesus (AS) to restore justice and equity on earth to establish the divine kingdom of God full of peace, just, knowledge and tact.
