New York (IP)- Iranian Foreign Minister said that the Syrian crisis has no military solution.

Iran PressAmerica: The tripartite meeting of foreign ministers of the Astana process on the developments in Syria was held on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly in New York.

In the meeting, which was held in the presence of the foreign ministers of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Russia, and Turkey, and Geir Otto Pedersen, the UN Secretary General's special representative for Syrian affairs, the latest political and humanitarian developments and initiatives in Syria were reviewed.

Hossein Amir Abdollahian said the Islamic Republic of Iran believes the Syrian crisis has no military solution.

He added that the crisis would be solved through the political process and under the principles of international law.

He emphasized that the end of the occupation and the withdrawal of illegal foreign forces in Syria and full respect for the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Syria are necessary prerequisites to achieve this goal.

Referring to the importance of the Constitutional Committee and emphasizing the economic and humanitarian situation in Syria and the negative effects of sanctions on the livelihood of ordinary people, he noted the need to cancel sanctions, remove obstacles and increase humanitarian aid to all Syrians throughout the country.

Participants once again emphasized their commitment to observing and respecting the independence, sovereignty, and territorial integrity of Syria.
