Iran Press/ Europe: After the meeting with his Russian counterpart, Sergey Lavrov, in Moscow on Wednesday, Hossein Amir-Abdollahian attended the joint press conference to elaborate on the meeting.
In the beginning, while expressing his satisfaction at being in Moscow and meeting with his Russian counterpart, Amir-Abdollahian said: "I was the bearer of a message from one of the European leaders and their request to Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi on the issue of Ukraine; there are ideas to help establish peace and stop the war in Ukraine, and we discussed these ideas with Mr. Lavrov. Iran has clearly stated its positions regarding Ukraine at the highest level."
"Regarding the issue of Ukraine, we also talked about some humanitarian issues, including prisoners of war (POWs), which is of serious concern, and also regarding the recent events related to the nuclear power plant of Ukraine, we paid attention to the concern of the international community in this regard," he said.
"Mr. Lavrov highlighted some points in this regard and the measures that Russia has taken to address concerns. To get out of this situation, all available capacities must be used," he added.
The Iranian foreign minister noted that Iran, which is one of the actors in the nuclear issue, is ready for any assistance and cooperation to establish security in the mentioned nuclear power plant in Ukraine and its surrounding environment."
Nobody can affect Iran-Russia trade ties
Iranian Foreign Minister notes that the Islamic Republic of Iran would not allow any other party to affect Tehran-Moscow trade ties.
Hossein Amir-Abdollahian said that Iran would pursue Tehran-Moscow cooperation within the framework of national interests.
Amir-Abdollahian stated that there were frequent capacities for cooperation between Iran and Russia in different areas.
He pointed to the Iran-Russia long-term cooperation agreement, saying: "In the near future, the document will be implemented by both sides after the approval of the parliaments of the two countries. We agreed that the joint economic commission of the two countries will be held in Moscow in the near future."
Elsewhere in his talks, the Iranian FM referred to regional issues. With regard to Syria, he stressed the continuation of Astana talks to settle the Syrian crisis.
As with Afghanistan, he pointed out that the country must enjoy an inclusive government with the participation of all political and tribal groups of the country.
Still, he referred to Yemen and the ceasefire in the country: "The stability of the current temporary ceasefires in Yemen depends on the Yemeni leaders' opinions about the total lifting of the humanitarian blockade on the country and focusing on political dialogues of all Yemenis."
Amir-Abdollahain also pointed out that the Islamic Republic stressed the stability of the geopolitics of the Caucasus.The Iranian FM expressed satisfaction with the return of peace and stability to Iraq.
