Moscow (IP) – The Islamic Republic of Iran's Minister of Foreign Affairs arrived in Moscow on Wednesday, and was welcomed by Iran's ambassador to Russia.

Iran PressEurope: Hossein Amir-Abdollahian had stated before his departure to Russia that the main purpose of his trip is to try to solve the crisis in Ukraine based on the request made by Western countries.

He added that bilateral relations and the issue of Afghanistan are also on the agenda.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Russia had earlier announced that Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian and Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov are scheduled to meet in Moscow on Wednesday.

As the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Russia had announced in a tweet, the purpose of Amir-Abdollahian's trip to Russia was to discuss the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action known as the JCPOA, which Amir-Abdollahian did not mention in his remarks at the airport upon departure.
