Tehran (IP) - The spokesman for the Iranian Health Ministry said on Tuesday that the country has identified its first case of monkeypox.

Iran PressIran news: Monkeypox is usually a mild viral illness characterized by symptoms of fever as well as a distinctive bumpy rash.

Monkeypox spreads from person to person, through contact with contaminated objects, and from animals to humans.

Pedram Pakaein, Iran's Health Ministry spokesperson, said that a 34-year-old woman in the southwestern city of Ahvaz was diagnosed with the disease after her family witnessed the spots on her body.
