Iran Press/ Europe: On the day of Ashura and alongside the other followers of Imam Hussein (PBUH), a group of resident Iranians, students and Shiites from other countries paid their respects to Imam Hussein and Ahl al-Bayt (PBUH) outside the building of the Islamic Republic of Iran in Bulgaria and performed Ashura noon prayer.
Imam Hussein was martyred along with 72 of his companions during a last-stand battle of Karbala against the tyrant of the time, Yazid I, more than thirteen centuries ago.
The martyrdom of Imam Hussein has turned into a symbol of righteous revolt and social and political reform.
