Iran Press/ Middle East: In a message on Saturday to the caravan of Arbaeen walking pilgrims to Karbala, Iraq, from Mashhad, northeastern Iran, Ebrahim Raisi said that in Arbaeen March, the whole-hearted and lovely cooperation and synergy of the people from different countries was a manifestation of the progeny Prophet Muhammad's (PBUH) school of life.
"Arbaeen is a symbol and manifestation to make Ashura and Imam Hussain's (AS) message ephemeral, so the elegant observance of the great march of Imam Hussain's (AS) lovers has attracted the attention of the world's people to the message of Ashura," the message said.
Arbaeen's occasion comes from 40 days after Imam Hussein was martyred along with dozens of his companions during a last-stand battle against the tyrant of the time, Yazid I, more than thirteen centuries ago.
The martyrdom of Imam Hussein has turned into a symbol of righteous revolt and social and political reform.
Imam Hussein is a highly-venerated figure not only among Shia Muslims but also among Sunnis and people of other faiths.
Arbaeen has become the world's largest annual peaceful gathering in the world.
