Tehran (IP) - Head of Tehran's Red Crescent provincial branch, said that the flood in Tehran province has left 8 injured and 2 dead.

Iran PressIran News: Head of the Tehran Red Crescent provincial branch Shahin Fathi pointed out that so far, the flood in the Imamzadeh Davood area, northeastern Tehran, has left 8 injured and two dead and said: "The search for possible missing persons continues."

The official said: "According to the weather warnings, we witnessed heavy rain since late last night (Wednesday) in Tehran province."

He continued: "As a result of these rains, we are witnessing flooding and mud in several parts of Tehran province, especially in the western and southern parts of the province, specifically in the "Imamzadeh Davood" area.

Fathi said: "All operatives of the Red Crescent of Tehran province were on full alert and several and rescue teams, including rapid response and rescue teams in Tehran, Shemiranat, Pakdasht and Mallard cities, are busy providing relief to the compatriots."

He further explained that due to the high volume of floods and mud in the Imamzadeh Davood area, rescue operations are underway.

He continued: "More than 80 operational forces are present in the region and are providing relief."

Fathi stated: "So far, 8 people have been injured, and they were handed over to the emergency services after initial measures, and unfortunately, two people lost their lives."

The managing director of the Red Crescent Society of Tehran province said: "A search and rescue operations team is also present in the area and with the help of local people and firemen, the search for possible missing persons continues."

At 1:30 a.m. this Thursday, a flood occurred in the Imamzadeh Davood area of ​​Tehran, which created a large amount of mud in this area and surrounding villages.

This Imamzadeh is the shrine of Davood-ebne Emad, one of the grandsons of Imam Zayn al-Abidin (PBUH), the fourth Shia Imam. The shrine is located in a mountainous region northwest of Tehran, drawing pilgrims to the site. This shrine was built during the Safavid Era.

For the people in Tehran, this place is more than a religious site; they would go hiking in this area, perform pilgrimage and enjoy nature at the same time. 

President Raisi urges providing relief to flood victims

 

Iran's President Ebrahim Raisi ordered to mobilize all facilities to provide relief to the flood victims of Imamzadeh Davood, stressing the need to prepare the necessary forecasts to prevent similar incidents.

Raisi called on the governor of Tehran to mobilize all the relief facilities, including the Red Crescent, the municipality and the crisis management headquarters, to speed up the rescue operations and also prepare the necessary forecasts to prevent incidents similar to the flood in Imamzadeh Davood.
