Shiraz (IP) - Twenty-two people were killed in flash flooding in Estahban in the southern province of Fars, said Mohammad Javad Moradian Head of Fars Emergency.

Iran PressIran News: Based on what was announced earlier, with the discovery of the bodies of two more people, the body of another missing person has not yet been found, and one person was missing.

15 of the 21 bodies discovered have been identified.

Estahban is located at a distance of 174 km from Shiraz.

A weather system causing heavy rain is covering Iran’s south and several Arab countries of the Persian Gulf.

Iran has been suffering severe dry spells for years.

In 2019, heavy floods in the south left at least 76 people dead and caused damages estimated at more than $2 billion.
