FM Amir-Abdollahian:

Tehran (IP)-  Iranian Foreign Minister said that the country wishes for nothing but the region's welfare and supports the reopening of Iranian and Saudi embassies in the two countries' capitals.

Iran PressIran news: Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian discussed and exchanged viewpoints on the latest regional developments and issues related to bilateral ties during a meeting with Iraqi Prime Minister Mustafa al-Kadhimi, who is visiting Tehran.

In the meeting, Iraqi Foreign Minister Fuad Hussein also attended; the Iranian foreign minister talked about the truce in Yemen and underlined Iran’s support for the continuation of the ceasefire and the need for an end to the humanitarian blockade on the country.

Amir-Abdollahian added the Islamic Republic of Iran believes that the solution to regional problems comes from inside the region.

The Iranian foreign minister also thanked Iraq for its constructive role and help in strengthening the element of talks in regional equations and the negotiations between the Islamic Republic of Iran and Saudi Arabia.

He also touched on the commonalities between Iran and Egypt and described the strengthening of bilateral ties between Tehran and Cairo in line with the interests of the region and the Muslim world.

During the meeting, Iraqi Prime Minister Mustafa al-Kadhimi also highlighted the standing and role of the Islamic Republic of Iran in regional developments and the vicinity of Iraq.

The prime minister noted that Iraq is serious about expanding mutual ties with the Islamic Republic of Iran and continues to play its reassuring role in the region.

Al-Kadhimi also called for an all-out expansion of relations and underlined the need to remove possible obstacles, stressing that he would continue his efforts to strengthen talks and regional cooperation.
