Tehran (IP)- "Our assessment of the latest round of negotiations in Baghdad is positive. Tehran welcomes the implementation of the results of talks with Saudi Arabia," Iran's Foreign Minister said in a telephone conversation with his Iraqi counterpart.

Iran PressIran news: In a telephone conversation with his Iraqi counterpart, Fuad Hossein, on Thursday, Hossein Amir Abdollahian thanked the Iraqi government for its actions to facilitate talks over the presence of Iranian pilgrims in this year's Hajj pilgrimage, expressing hope that with the efforts of the Saudi Hajj officials, the ritual of major Hajj will be performed well and without any problems for pilgrims from all Islamic countries including Iran.

During the telephone conversation, Iraqi Foreign Minister Fuad Hossein also expressed pleasure at the trend of talks between Iran and Saudi Arabia. He also underlined the Iraqi government's determination to continue its facilitation efforts until direct negotiations between the foreign ministers of Iran and Saudi Arabia occur, and relations return to normal.

The Iraqi foreign minister also said Baghdad is ready to implement agreements reached over the reopening of land borders and visits of pilgrims, including during Arba'een.

Good progress made in relations with Saudi: Iran FM

Regarding Iran's talk with the world powers in Vienna to remove anti-Iranian sanctions, Amir Abdollahian said Iran and the US exchanged messages through the EU representative. Still, the White House suddenly put forth the idea of issuing a resolution at the IAEA.

He added that Washington is after extracting political concessions from Iran at the negotiating table through the IAEA resolution.

Amir Abdollahian noted that Iran has always invited the West to the path of diplomacy. Tehran even put a political initiative on the table several days before the agency's recent meeting to continue talks until a final deal is reached.

He added that in the face of the US's unconstructive behavior at the agency, Iran's countermeasure was to increase its peaceful nuclear activities within the framework of parliamentary law.

The foreign minister said Iran views diplomacy as the best path to reaching a good, robust and lasting deal, but in the face of bullying, Tehran's response with be based on strength.

Fuad Hussein reaffirmed his country's view about the necessity of reaching a final agreement in the Vienna talks. He added that Iraq has always encouraged the US and Western governments to resolve problems and remove anti-Iran sanctions.
