Tehran (IP) - Ahl Al-Bayt World Assembly condemned the release of 'Holy Spider' at the Cannes Festival, which insulted the eighth Imam of the world's Shias Imam Reza.

Iran Press / Iran news: In a politicized act, the Cannes Film Festival awarded the film 'Holy Spider' which has shown a distorted image of Iranian society and insulted the transcendent beliefs of the Shiites.

The Vice-Chairman of Ahl Al-Bayt World Assembly Ayatollah Ghorban-Ali Dorri Njafabadi said the Holy Shrine of Imam Reza (AS) has been the pivot of the Iranian nation's unity for centuries and that such plots would fail to undermine the Iranian people's sincerity to the Household of the Prophet of Islam, in particular Imam Reza (AS).

Ayatollah Dorri Njafabadi referred to the blasphemous content of the Canne-awarded film 'Holy Spider' as another conspiracy of the enemies of Islam and Iran to escalate Islamophobia.

On June 1, Tehran said it formally protested to France over the selection of the film at Cannes.
