West Azerbaijan (IP) - The Anti-Narcotics Police of West Azerbaijan Province of Iran identified and dismantled a large drug trafficking gang in the northwest of the country.

Iran PressIran news: The Police Commander of West Azerbaijan Province, Brigadier-General Rahim Jahanbakhsh, stated that the provincial anti-narcotics police had identified and dismantled an active drug trafficking gang northwest of the country, which was preparing and distributing drugs in several provinces.

He highlighted that more than 900 kilograms of various drugs had been seized, a significant part of which is crack and heroin.

Seizing more than 1,000 tons of drugs per year, the Islamic Republic of Iran has the highest rate of drug seizures in the world, despite harsh sanctions.

Iran has also sacrificed more than 12,000 security forces as the front line in the fight against drug trafficking in the world.

The United Nations has named Iran the flagship of the fight against drugs.
