Vienna (IP) - A document on cooperation between Iran and the United Nations was signed between the Secretary-General of Drug Control Headquarters of Iran, and the Executive Director of the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime in Vienna, Ghada Fathi Waly.

Iran PressEurope: In an interview with Iran Press in Vienna on Tuesday, Eskandar Momeni elaborated on signing the cooperation document.

He stated that the main focus of the document is the bilateral cooperation that the United Nations was supposed to provide to Iran in terms of equipment and training, especially in the field of narcotics and the fight against psychotropic substances.

Noting that Iran is fighting narcotics while oppressive sanctions are deterring its activities, Momeni expressed hope that the equipment assistance would be provided to Iran so that it could carry out its comprehensive fight against drugs.

The secretary-general of the Drug Control Headquarters of Iran underlined that Iran is at the forefront of the global fight against narcotics and is paying the price to solve this global problem, noting that Iran's demands and concerns were raised during the meeting.

Momeni pointed out that one of the main concerns of Iran is the import of precursors from European countries and other countries to Afghanistan and their conversion into crystal methamphetamine; he said in this regard, warnings were issued during the meeting.
