Tehran (IP) – Commander of the Border Guards of the Islamic Republic of Iran announced the discovery of heavy shipments of drugs and the annihilation of arms smuggling gangs within the southeastern borders.

­Iran PressIran News: Brigadier-General Ahmad Ali Goudarzi stated that border guards in Sistan and Baluchestan Province, while controlling the land and sea borders, detected significant amounts of narcotics in the southeastern of the country in the last 24 hours and during three separate operations.

He referred to the success of border guards in discovering drug shipments during the three operations in Saravan, Mirjaveh and Chabahar counties and said: "In these three operations, the border guards managed to find about 3,500 kilograms of various drugs, and in this regard, several vehicles were confiscated and some were arrested."

He also announced the discovery of significant quantities of weapons and ammunition in the borders of Khuzestan and Kermanshah provinces and said: "Border guards stationed in the border areas of Hur al-Azim of Khuzestan and Salas-e Babajani County of Kermanshah Province also succeeded in dismantling two arms smuggling gangs and seized 92 handguns and related ammunition."
