Tehran (IP) - Iran's Vice President says Tehran is determined to comprehensively shore up ties with Moscow, as a part of its strategic policies.

Iran PressIran News: Leading a high-ranking delegation, the Russian Deputy Prime Minister has traveled to Tehran and will hold technical and specialized talks with their counterparts in Iran to further cooperation.

Meeting with the Russian Deputy Prime Minister Alexander Novak on Wednesday, Iran's Mohammad Mokhber stressed the development of relations between the two countries and called on the Joint Commission of Cooperation between Iran and Russia to pursue the goal.

Mokhber pointed to baking issues as an obstacle in the way of the two countries trade and urged the use of national currencies (Rial and Ruble) in trade exchange. 

Still, he highlighted transport as a key element of trade between Iran and Russia and announced the readiness of the Iranian side to enhance cooperation with Russia in this regard. 

Russia's Alexander Novak for his part praised Iran's reasonable stances on the international developments and expressed the seriousness of his country to elevate ties with Iran. 

Novak also talked about Russia's tendency to use national currencies instead of Dollars and Euros, for trades between the two countries and announced Moscow's readiness to have investments in different areas in Iran. 

As with the transport area, the Russian official referred to the North-South Corridor project: "The Islamic Republic of Iran can become a strategic transportation hub for Russia and the region."

Novak also expressed condolences to the Iranian families and the relatives of those who lost their loved ones in the Metropol incident in Abadan, southwest of Iran.
