Tehran (IP) - At a meeting with the Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Azerbaijan, the Foreign Minister of the Islamic Republic of Iran assessed the energy and transportation sectors as the two main pillars for the promotion of economic cooperation between Tehran and Baku.

Expressing satisfaction with the growth of trade between the two countries over the last eight months and he termed the implementation of the Turkmenistan gas swap to Azerbaijan by Iran, the energy and transportation sectors as two main pillars for increasing economic cooperation between the two countries.

The need to facilitate the movement of Iranian and Azeri citizens thanks to the management and relative control of the COVID19, financial exchanges between the two provinces and cooperation of border provinces were discussed by the Iranian minister.

Meanwhile, Mustafayev pointed to the meeting between Iranian and Azeri presidents on the sidelines of the ECO Summit in Ashgabat as a turning point for the beginning of a new phase in relations between the two countries and stressed the role and political will of senior officials in developing cooperation.
