Tehran (IP) - The Deputy Speaker of Iranian Parliament Ali Nikzad is scheduled to travel to the Republic of Azerbaijan to attend the third annual session of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Economic Cooperation Organization (ECO).

Iran PressIran news: The Economic Cooperation Organization (ECO) was initially established in 1984 by three countries, Iran, Turkey, and Pakistan, under the Izmir Treaty to raise the economic standard of living for people of the region.

And then Afghanistan, Tajikistan, the Republic of Azerbaijan, Uzbekistan, Turkmenistan, Kazakhstan, and Kyrgyzstan joined the organization in 1992. The expansion of intra-regional and extra-regional trade and efforts to integrate trade between the countries of the region and world trade are among the goals of the ECO.

According to Ali Nikzad, Deputy Speaker of Iranian Parliament and Chairman of the Iran-Azerbaijan Parliamentary Friendship Group, during his visit to Baku, in addition to meeting with the Speaker of the National Assembly of the Republic of Azerbaijan, he will also meet with the Speaker of the Supreme Assembly of the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic, Wasef Talibov.

The speech at the third annual meeting of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Economic Cooperation Organization (ECO) and bilateral meetings with some heads of parliamentary delegations are among Nikzad's plans for a two-day visit to the Republic Azerbaijan.

Today, The Deputy Speaker of the Iranian Parliament will first pay a short visit to the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic and meet with the Speaker of the Supreme Assembly of the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic.

The Economic Assembly of the Economic Cooperation Organization (ECO) will be held with the aim of promoting parliamentary participation and reaching regional convergence.
