Tehran (IP)- Iranian Minister of Petroleum and the Minister of Electricity of Iraq emphasized the development of cooperation between the two countries in the oil and gas sector.

Iran PressIran News: Javad Owji today (Wednesday, April 27), in a meeting with Adel Karim, Minister of Electricity of Iraq, and his accompanying delegation, stressed the need to further develop cooperation in the field of oil and gas and said: "I hope good decisions will be made during your stay in Iran.”

In this meeting, the Iraqi Minister of Electricity called Iran a friendly country and added: "I am happy to meet you for the second time, we are your friends and we would like the cooperation between the two countries to continue."

The two sides stressed the need to further develop cooperation during the meeting, especially in the gas sector.

Before this meeting, the Speaker of the Council of Representatives of Iraq, Mohammad al-Halbousi, arrived at Mehrabad International Airport on Wednesday morning at the head of a delegation. 

Iraq's Parliament Speaker Mohammad al-Halbousi, for his part, supported Iran's president, Ebrahim Raisi's comments and said the delegation accompanying him were representatives of different ethnicities and religions, which was indicative of Iraqis' interest in strengthening ties with Iran.
