Tehran (IP) - Expressing dissatisfaction with the rise in prices for essential goods, Iran's president instructed regulators to look into the recent surge in prices and find the root causes, urging the responsible ministers to control the prices.

Iran PressIran News: Speaking on Wednesday at the cabinet meeting, Ebrahim Raisi stressed the need to boost supervision to prevent fluctuations in commodity prices in the market and said: "We should not allow some people to abuse and disappoint people with high prices."

The President called the irregular prices unjustifiable and stressed that any change in the price of goods requires consideration of all aspects and conveying proper information to the people, and that it is unacceptable for a private-sector company or factory to increase the price of its goods suddenly.

In another part of his speech, referring to the statements made by the Leader of Iran's Islamic Revolution, Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei during a meeting with government officials on Tuesday, Raisi said that the government should heed Ayatollah Khamenei's instructions and stressed: "All executive officials should try to give hope to the people through timely and efficient measures."

Raisi emphasized: "Anything that causes despair and hopelessness in the society should not be done, and this issue should be the most important concern of my colleagues in the government."

The Iranian president also referred to the need to prevent the import of similar domestic goods into the country, saying: "Improper imports will certainly harm production and weaken the national economy."

Raisi further referred to the complaints of many knowledge-based companies about importing goods that can be produced in the country and firmly instructed government agencies not to import goods that have similar domestic ones under any circumstances.

The president called even an hour of delay in implementing this order unacceptable and called on the administrative apparatus to follow the process of preventing the import of unnecessary and similar domestic goods.

At the end of the meeting, Raisi referred to the need to pay special attention to the issue of job creation and eliminating unemployment and said: "Signing a memorandum between agencies is not enough to create employment, but this is the beginning of an executive movement for job creation that must be completed with effective measures."
