Tehran (IP) – Iran's capital Tehran has put nuclear achievements on display at the Iran International Conference Center on the occasion of the National Nuclear Day on Apr. 10, 2022.

Iran PressIran News: The achievements included three radiopharmaceuticals, two achievements in the fields of cold plasma technology (CPT) and plasma therapy for cancer patients, and four others in the industry, lasers, control systems, and radiography.

Featured high among the achievements was a set of radio medicines, including Lutetium-177, that is used to treat a number of difficult-to-treat diseases like cancer. With a half-life of 7 days, the Iranian-made LU-177 will have a stronger effect compared to the foreign-made LU-77.

LU-177 works to destroy cancerous tumors by connecting to the tumor receptors and spreading rays in the affected area.

Also, the "Comprehensive Strategic Document for Nuclear Development,” which is to serve as the blueprint for Iran’s nuclear development in the coming years, was unveiled.

Referring to the document, the deputy director and CEO of Beam Application Development Company, Pejman Shirmardi, stated that Iran's nuclear industry will experience a promising development by 2042.

He further gave the example of foodstuff irradiation as an application of the nuclear industry such as irradiating pollen which is also one of the important products for export. "Irradiation can reduce the microbial load of pollen and provide a reliable product for export with significant currency income for the country," Shirmardi said.

Also, Iran's Atomic Energy Organization (AEOI) unveiled three strategic plans, including arrangements to increase the country’s nuclear electricity production capacity to 10,000 megawatts, promote the application of radiation technologies, and construct a homegrown 360,000-MW power plant in Darkhovin, Khuzestan Province.
