Tehran (IP)- Iran's government spokesman called the United States the inherent enemy of the Iranian people and said that the US has always been the enemy of the country's people.

Iran PressIran news: On March 30, the US Treasury Department announced sanctions on an individual and companies linked with him for assisting Iran’s ballistic missile program.

In its statement, the Treasury said the new sanctions target the companies that procured ballistic missile propellant-related materials for a unit of the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) responsible for the research and development of ballistic missiles.

"The US government has a clear record of breaking the treaty and violating international and human rights standards," in response to the new sanctions against Iran and banning an Iranian singer from entering the United States, government spokesman, Ali Bahadori Jahromi tweeted.

"At the same time as claiming goodwill, the United States has once again shown that it is hostile to the 'people' of Iran under any condition by imposing new sanctions and barring an Iranian singer from entering under false pretenses," added the spokesperson.

A renowned Iranian traditional vocalist could not perform in California last week after US agents interrogated him for hours and denied him an entry visa.

Organizers of the sold-out celebration of the Persian New Year, Nowruz, said 49-year-old Alireza Ghorbani was unable to attend after being detained by agents in an airport in Toronto on Friday and refused entry to the United States following an interrogation.
