Damascus (IP) - Iranian Foreign Minister says Iran and Syria are on the same front, and Tehran supports Damascus' leadership, government, and people.

Iran PressMiddle East: Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian at the arrival to the Damascus told reporters that Iran and Syria are on the same front and Iran supports the leadership, government, and people of Syria.

"Iran and Syria are in a single stronghold. I am glad that the relations between Tehran and Damascus are at their best. Today, along with all aspects of the relations between the two countries, the issue of economic and trade cooperation is a priority," Hossein Amir-Abdollahian told reporters upon his arrival in Syria.

The top Iranian diplomat noted: "Trade, economic and political consultations between the two countries are at their best and what is in the interest of the people of the two countries is on our agenda."

Amir-Abdollahian said: "We are in a united front and Iran supports the leadership, the government and the Syrian people."

Syrian Foreign Minister Faisal Mekdad called the Iranian Foreign Minister's visit an opportunity to discuss important issues for the two countries and developments in the region.

The Syrian official highlighted: "We insist on the best form of relations with the countries of the region, including relations with Iran and Arab countries. Coordination between us continues at the regional and international levels.”

Mekdad said: "Syria emphasizes its stand by Iran in connection with its creative interaction in the nuclear issue. In our talks, we will discuss the major developments that took place after the Russian military operation in Ukraine."
