Iran Press/ Iran news: On Friday, Iran's Foreign Minister Hossein Amir- Abdollahian hold a telephone consultation with Slovak Foreign Minister "Ivan Korkok".
He also discussed the situation of Iranians living in Ukraine, bilateral relations and international issues of common concern.
Regarding the escalation of the crisis in Ukraine, Amir-Abdollahian said that he hopes the crisis would be resolved politically and peacefully.
As a group of Iranian nationals living in Ukraine had applied to leave the country, Iran's Foreign Minister said that we called on the Slovak government to cooperate and assist in the entry of Iranian nationals from Ukraine to Slovakia without a visa.
He noted: "We have decided to transfer our citizens to the Islamic Republic of Iran by flight via neighboring countries of Ukraine, including Slovakia."
The Slovak Foreign Minister also expressed satisfaction with the development of cooperation between the two countries at various levels and fields and announced there would be a joint economic commission between the two countries in the near future.
Ivan Korkok also welcomed the Foreign Minister's proposal and announced his country's readiness to cooperate and assist Iranian citizens to leave Ukraine through the Slovak border without the need for a visa.
He stressed: "Iranian citizens can enter Slovakia through the borders of Ukraine and travel back to Iran."
After a long period of speculation about tensions between Russia and Ukraine, on the morning of Thursday (February 24), Russian troops began their military operations on Ukrainian territory and have advanced in various parts of the country.
According to the announcements of the Iranian Embassy in Austria: "Due to the current developments in Ukraine, the entry and passage of foreign nationals residing in Ukraine, including Iranian nationals, to the territory of this country to return to their country of origin is allowed."
