Tehran (IP) - The second international conference on trade, investment opportunities, and economic cooperation between Iran and Russia was held, aimed at focusimg on facts and barriers in developing bilateral relations.

Iran PressIran news: Economic activists and officials of both countries gathered in Tehran on Tuesday to go through the issues in expanding Iran-Russia economic relations.

Speaking at the conference, Shahram Farsaee, Representative of the General Directorate of Eurasia in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, stated that Iran-Russia relation is important for President Raisi's administration, since it focuses on establishing relations with neighbors and East of Asia.

He pointed out that several projects are going on in Russia right now, and several other are planned for the future.

Referring to the trade volume, Farsaee noted that Iran’s trade rate with Russia increased from 805 million to one billion dollars despite the pandemic.

Referring to the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA), he said although reviving the JCPOA can expand the relations between two countries, it does not mean that if it happens, Iran moves to the East.

Elsewhere in the meeting, advisor to the Parliamentary Trade Fraction on Parliament, Ahmad Roknabadi, highlighted: "Activating Iran’s Trade House in various parts of the world and especially Russia is a good solution to lift trade barriers since Russia is the only country which we can easily have transaction and transferring cargo with them."

The second International Conference on Trade, Investment Opportunities, and economic cooperation between Iran and Russia was held in Tehran on Tuesday, February 22, in the presence of Iranian and Russian economic activists and officials.
