Iran, Finland to boost judicial-legal cooperation

IP _ Secretary of the Islamic Republic of Iran's High Council for Human Rights and Director General of the Department for Africa and the Middle East - Ministry for Foreign Affairs of Finland stressed the need to confront the scourge of terrorism and to expand legal and judicial cooperation.

Iran PressIran News: Kazem Gharibabadi, Vice-President of the Judiciary for International Affairs and Secretary of the Human Rights Staff of the Islamic Republic of Iran, met Sofie From-Emmesberger, Director General for Africa and the Middle East, at the Finnish Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

During the meeting, Gharibabadi explained the human rights policies and judicial diplomacy of the Islamic Republic of Iran and announced Tehran's readiness for human rights talks and legal and judicial cooperation with Finland.

Secretary of the Islamic Republic of Iran's High Council for Human Rights criticized the political approach of some countries to the issue of human rights and the application of double and selective standards toward the issue, adding: "Unfortunately, some countries use human rights as a political tool against others."

He expressed hope that Finland would take a professional and independent approach in its new term as a member of the Human Rights Council.

The two sides also stressed the need to address the sinister phenomenon of terrorism, which threatens human rights around the world, as well as to protect the human rights of vulnerable groups such as women, children, and people with disabilities.

The Finnish side also appreciated Iran's support for Finland's membership in the Human Rights Council and welcomed the expansion of specialized legal and judicial talks and the exchange of experiences between the two countries in this field.
