Tehran (IP)- The parliament members on Sunday attended the mausoleum of the Founder of the Islamic Republic in Iran, late Imam Khomeini, on the eve of the 43rd anniversary of the victory of the Islamic Revolution.

Iran PressIran news: On February 1st, 1979, Imam Khomeini, the Founder of the Islamic Revolution, returned to Tehran amidst an enthusiastic welcome from the people after fifteen years of exile.

In the ceremony, the Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf and the members of the parliament commemorated the late Imam Khomeini by laying down flowers on his graves and praying for him.

Ghalibaf also delivered his speech.

Imam Khomeini's grandchild calls for unity

Delivering a speech at the mausoleum of the late founder of the Islamic Revolution on Sunday, Hassan Khomeini stated that unity is essential for the country. 

Highlighting that the Islamic Revolution has many enemies, he noted: "Today, the country faces many problems, the important one is people's livelihoods, so parliament has to solve them." 

He added: "The parliament must rely on national capabilities and power in making discussions."

The anniversary of the Islamic Revolution is celebrated on 22 Bahman, which is the 11th month in the Iranian calendar, February 11 in the Gregorian calendar. 

Every year, Iranians mark the anniversary of the Islamic Revolution from February 1 to 11, known as the Ten-Day Fajr ceremonies.

The event commemorates the protests that led to the downfall of the US-backed Shah monarchy and the establishment of the Islamic Republic of Iran.
