On Wednesday, the President of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Ebrahim Raisi, in a telephone conversation with the President of Kazakhstan, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, stated that the current level of economic and trade relations between the two countries is not commensurate with the level of political relations between Iran and Kazakhstan.

Referring to his recent meeting with Tokayev on the sidelines of the Shanghai Summit in Tajikistan, Raisi expressed hope that in the thirtieth year of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Iran and Kazakhstan, a big step would be taken to improve the level of economic interaction.

"In the 30 years since the establishment of diplomatic relations, the two countries have been able to establish a favorable level of close and friendly relations with each other," said Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, appreciating the Islamic Republic of Iran's support for the region's independence.

Tokayev also said that the growing development of relations with Iran is significant, especially in economic and trade cooperation, adding that holding the next meeting of the Joint Commission on Economic Cooperation and bilateral travel could create a considerable leap in relations between the two countries.
