Tehran (IP) – Iran's Foreign Ministry spokesman said that Iran and France held several rounds of discussions, the last of which was on Jan 29, 2022, and its direct effects would be seen on the upcoming Vienna talks.

Iran PressIran News: French President Emmanuel Macron made an hour-long phone call with President Raisi on Saturday, calling for the continuation of talks between Tehran and Paris with the aim of deepening bilateral relations.

Responding to Iran Press' question, Iran's Foreign Ministry spokesman, Saeed Khatibzadeh stated on Monday: "The ties between the presidents of Iran and France in various levels would affect the decisions on the nuclear talks."

Khatibzadeh noted that Iran has clearly defined its stance and the two presidents' talks are effective for Vienna.

Regarding the Vienna talks, he also pointed: "Remarkable issues remain in the discussion of lifting sanctions. Advances should be made in the area of verifications and guarantees. We have now passed the ideas phase and the Iranian delegation has creatively written all the cases over the past three weeks and Iran is waiting for the response of the other parties and we hope to reach a good result in the discussion of lifting the sanctions as soon as possible."

On Jan. 28, 2022, while the eighth round of negotiations for the lifting of the US sanctions against Iran was underway in the Austrian capital, a recess was announced that based on the agreement reached between the Iranian negotiating delegations and the P4+1, the recess gives participants time to go back to their capitals for consultations with their respective governments.
