Mariwan (IP) – Zarivar or Zaribar Lake is one of the largest freshwater lakes in Iran and the most beautiful natural and tourist attractions in Kurdistan province, the western part of the country.

Iran PressIran News: Zarivar Lake is surrounded by beautiful mountains and pastures that give a unique landscape to the lake; these days, it has become spectacular because of snow.

Zarivar Lake's water is supplied from springs located at its bottom and rain and snow. Due to the heavy snowfall in Mariwan and the rising of the lake's water, it is predicted that there will be a lush spring and a spectacular place for tourists in western Iran next spring and summer.

Zarivar Lake is doubly beautiful in winter and with the freezing of a part of the lake, walking on this icy surface gives tourists and nature lovers a different feeling.

This lake is also considered one of the wildlife habitats and has been registered among the natural heritage of Iran and has hosted various species of rare native and migratory birds.
