Iran's rail transit grew by 202%

Tehran (IP) – Railway Company of the Islamic Republic of Iran announced a 202 percent increase in the transit of Iranian railways in the last nine months.

Iran PressIran News: The performance report published by Railway of Islamic Republic of Iran within the first nine months of the Iranian calendar (spanning from March to December 2021) demonstrates the increase in the rail sector performance in transit, passenger transport, and freight transport.

Within this period, rail transit holds a record of 1,390 tons, showing a 202 percent increase compared to the same period in the last year.

This record beats the highest record of rail transit within the last ten years, which was 1,200 tons in 2017.

Freight transport had been 35 million tons, and it is estimated to reach 68 million tons by the end of the year (in March).

Also, passenger transport had been 14.7 million, demonstrating a 110 percent increase compared to the same period last year.
