Tehran (IP) - The Iraqi ambassador to Iran emphasized the influential role of martyrs Lt. Gen. Soleimani and Abu Mahdi al-Muhandis in overthrowing ISIS in Iraq.

Iran PressIran News: The Iraqi ambassador to Iran stressed that the martyrs LT. Gen. Soleimani and Abu Mahdi al-Muhandis played a key role in overthrowing ISIS in Iraq.

Nasir Abdul Mohsen Abdullah said at the first international congress of the Hajj Qassem school of thought in the eyes of women in other countries: "These two martyrs were role models of sacrifice and pride during the fight against the Takfiri forces and had great prestige in liberating Iraqi lands from the filth of ISIS."

The Iraqi ambassador to Iran stated: "The martyr's Haj Qassem Soleimani and Abu Mahdi al-Muhandis and their comrades stood by the Iraqi people in difficult times in the war against terrorism and ISIS."

He added: "These martyrs were exemplars of great morality, modesty, and courage who were always present on the front lines of the battle; because they were loyal to the goal they were fighting for, and their presence was a security factor."

Referring to the influence of LT. Gen. Soleimani and Abu Mahdi Muhandis, in the hearts of people, said that the presence of millions of people at their glorious funerals in the Islamic Republic of Iran and Iraq is part of their loyalty to the sacrifices they made.

The first international congress codenamed "Haj Qassem's School" in the eyes of women in other countries" on Sunday with the presence of Ensieh Khazali, Vice President for Women and Family Affairs, Nasir Abdul Mohsen Abdullah, Iraqi Ambassador to Iran, and scholars and foreign guests from Asian, European and African was held in Tehran.

General Soleimani, the commander of the Quds Force of Iran's Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC), and Iraq's Popular Mobilization Units (PMU) deputy head Abu Mahdi al-Muhandis were assassinated along with their companions in a US drone strike authorized by former President Donald Trump near Baghdad International Airport on January 3, 2020.

They were highly popular because of their key role in eliminating the US-backed ISIS terrorist group in the region, particularly in Iraq and Syria.

General Soleimani was assassinated by the US while he was in Baghdad at the official invitation of the Iraqi government.
