Iran Press/ Iran news: "The Barakat vaccine formula has been developed in such a way that if the Omicron variant is injected in it, it will produce a corona vaccine capable of fighting the omicron variant," Bahram Einollahi said in response to Iran Press' question over the new variant and the efficiency of the homemade vaccines.
On the sidelines of his visit to Barekat Pharmaceutical Town on Thursday, Einollahi told IP that the process would work for different variants of the coronavirus, even those that would emerge in the future.
The health minister called on the people to take the booster shot dose of the corona vaccine and observe the health protocols including the social distancing.
Earlier in July, a faculty member of Tehran University of Medical Sciences Mohammad-Reza Salehi said the results of studies showed the effectiveness of the 'COVIran Barekat' vaccine on the Delta variant of the coronavirus.
The omicron variant is showing that it could overtake delta as the dominant version of the novel coronavirus in some places.
Delta’s spread began a year ago and covered the world by summer. Omicron probably will take over even faster.
