Iran’s Health Ministry said that the drop in COVID casualties and infections is mainly the outcome of the greater momentum of the public vaccination process and the beginning of the booster jab for nationwide vaccinations.

On Monday, the Health Ministry daily report showed that 6,173,369 people in the country had contracted COVID-19, and 6,009,489 of the infected people recovered.

Newly diagnosed patients with COVID-19 were 2,390 cases, of whom 478 patients were hospitalized. Also, 2,849 COVID-19 patients are in intensive care units (ICU).

So far, 40,880,338 COVID-19 diagnosis tests have been conducted across Iran.

Iran's daily vaccination process shows that 59,197,417 people have received the first dose of the COVID vaccine, 50,499,982 have received the second dose, 4,054,055 have received the third dose. The total number of vaccines injected in the country reached 113,751,456 doses.

Since the pandemic outbreak in Iran, the country has faced five waves of infections. The fifth wave sparked mainly due to the spread of the Delta variant was the last one, greatest, and deadliest of all.

Following the fifth wave of Covid, Iran has seen a downward trend in deaths and infections. This has been attributed to the government’s measures to import huge quantities of Covid vaccine and domestic production of jabs, and people's great cooperation with the health ministry.
