Tehran (IP) – Vice president for science and technology says Iran is the third largest gas producer in the world despite sanctions.

Iran PressIran News: Speaking on 'National Science Day', Sorena Sattari stated: "We have done a good job of certifying compliance and developing national standards."

"Although there are good investments in research field, we have not been able to achieve the same amount of production yet," he noted.

Referring to the high gas consumption in Iran, Sattari urged knowledge-based companies to take action in optimizing consumption.

The Iranian Oil Ministry signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Vice-Presidency for Science and Technology on Monday to cooperate for establishing new technology parks.

The MoU aims to finance start-ups and knowledge-based companies in order to encourage them to meet the technological needs of the oil industry.

According to the agreement, the Vice Presidency for Science and Technology will allocate special incentives for supporting knowledge-based and creative companies in various areas, including registering domestic and international patents and trademarks.
