Tehran (IP) - The 35th World Military Wrestling Championship started on Saturday in the 12,000-seat hall of Tehran's Azadi Stadium.

Iran PressIran news: According to Iran Press News Agency, the opening ceremony of CISM (Counseil International de Sport Militaire or International Military Sports Council) 35th World Military Wrestling Championship, which was accompanied by a parade of 21 teams, was attended by Luis Fernando, World Seismic Representative from Brazil, and Iranian officials.

These competitions will be held in two sections, freestyle and Greco-Roman wrestling, and the national team of the Iranian Armed Forces will participate in both sections with a complete composition.

Brigadier General Mohammad Sharafi, head of the Iranian Armed Forces Wrestling Board, said: "20 Olympic wrestlers have participated in these competitions, and therefore the competitions will be held at a good level."

Brigadier General Mohammad Sharafi said: "In the last two tournaments, the national freestyle and Greco-Roman wrestling teams of the Iranian Armed Forces have won the title of runner-up in the team section."

Sharafi added: "There is a lot of hope that in these competitions, Iranian freestyle and Greco-Roman wrestlers will become champions in the team section."
