IP- In a meeting with his Indian counterpart in New Delhi, Iran's secretary of the Supreme National Security Council (SNSC) called for further strengthening of economic relations and complete operations for Chabahar port between the two countries

Iran PressAsia: Ali Shamkhani, secretary of Iran's Supreme National Security Council (SNSC), attended the third regional security meeting in New Delhi, met with India's National Security Advisor (NSA) Ajit Doval this afternoon.

Shamkhani said: "Accelerating the full operations of Chabahar is one of the most important issues between the two countries, and Iran is willing to use its capacities for the development and growth of the region, and strong bilateral relations with India can pave the way in this direction."

"In addition to cooperation with India in three areas: international, regional and bilateral, Iran wants to expand relations based on scientific, technical, and transit capacities with New Delhi." said the head of SNSC.

Ajit Duval, for his part, expressed his regret over the inapplicable level of economic relations between the two sides and stressed the need to expand cooperation, especially in the financial and security, and called for the removal of existing obstacles strengthening ties.

Delhi's third regional security meeting started on November 10 at the level of national security advisers and secretaries of security councils. It was chaired by India's National Security Adviser, Shri Ajit Doval.

Iran hosted the first two editions of the event in 2018 and 2019.

Representatives from Iran, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Russia, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, and Uzbekistan, attended the meeting.

The high-level forum is expected to review the security situation in the region arising from recent developments in Afghanistan. It will also discuss measures to address the relevant security challenges and support the people of Afghanistan in promoting peace, security, and stability.
