Tehran (IP)-The Iranian Minister of Petroleum said that the country is determined to pay the gas debt to Turkmenistan.

Iran PressIran News: After a meeting with a delegation led by Turkmenistan's Foreign Minister Rashid Muradov, Javad Owji said: "We have two gas contracts with Turkmenistan in two parts of Iran (Khorasan and Golestan Provinces )."

These are 25-year contracts, and “we used to import 40 million cubic meters per day of gas from Turkmenistan through these two contracts,” the minister noted.

"Unfortunately, in the past, Turkmenistan's gas exports to Iran were cut off due to non-payment of Turkmenistan's claims," he said. “Contrary to the friendly relations between the two countries, this issue was referred to the International Court of Arbitration, and this court determined the exact amount of Iran's debt.”
